Gympie has the 8th greatest gold producing mine in Australia, with the Eldorado mine producing 32,000 ounces of gold a year . We invite you to experience the Gympie gold rush and 100 years of history with more than 30 displays.

Set by a picturesque lake, the museum houses memorabilia from the early gold mining era , as well as displays showcasing military, rural, transport, communications and steam development in Australia .

Spend a few hours or a full day with the family or a group of friends and discover the region's past. Great picnic grounds and BBQ areas surround the museum, so you can bring your own lunch and relax by the lake or dine in our café.
